{"id":2092,"date":"2018-05-18T12:44:07","date_gmt":"2018-05-18T12:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/roundaboutwatersolutions.org.za\/2018\/05\/18\/new-playpumps-in-the-north-west-province\/"},"modified":"2018-05-18T12:44:07","modified_gmt":"2018-05-18T12:44:07","slug":"new-playpumps-in-the-north-west-province","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/index.php\/2018\/05\/18\/new-playpumps-in-the-north-west-province\/","title":{"rendered":"New PlayPumps in the North West Province"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three PlayPumps were recently installed the in the North West Province.<\/p>\n<p>Lekolwane Primary School has 545 learners and 15 educators.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/NW0237-LEKOLWANE-104-e1526640674893.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1670\" src=\"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/NW0237-LEKOLWANE-104-e1526640625523-300x230-1.jpg\" alt=\"NW0237 - LEKOLWANE 104\" width=\"300\" height=\"230\" data-id=\"1670\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The school is in the bushveld region of the North West and there is a constant need for reliable water.\u00a0 Prior to the installation of the PlayPump the school had to buy water.\u00a0 This meant that the children hardly ever washed their hands because there was no spare water to do so.\u00a0 Water for cooking had to be purchased from the community and during the summer months the children were constantly dehydrated and tired.<\/p>\n<p>After we had tested the borehole to make sure the water was fit for human consumption and thanks to a very generous donor, Lawrence&#8217;s Roundabout Well Appeal in the United Kingdom, we were able to install a PlayPump.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/NW0238-MENWE-086-e1526639441993.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1663 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/NW0238-MENWE-086-287x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"NW0238 - MENWE 086\" width=\"287\" height=\"300\" data-id=\"1663\" \/><\/a>One of the other schools, Menwe Primary has\u00a0 487 children and 15 educators. The school is near the border with Botswana, a very dry area, especially in the winter months. The school had an electrical pump, but it often broke and also they could not afford to pay for the electricity, so frequently they went without water.\u00a0 The principal said that the PlayPump would be an ideal solution to their water problems, especially as the cooks would no longer have to go into the village to collect water.\u00a0 Sometimes the educators had to take their cars to go and collect water which took up valuable teaching time.<\/p>\n<p>As the children play water is pumped into a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/NW0237-LEKOLWANE-121.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1676\" src=\"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/NW0237-LEKOLWANE-121-300x225-1.jpg\" alt=\"NW0237 - LEKOLWANE 121\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-id=\"1676\" \/><\/a>storge tank to be used immediately or at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>We are hoping to put another 25 PlayPumps in at schools this year and any donation towards this or the maintenance of our existing PlayPumps would be greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>011 543 7928<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three PlayPumps were recently installed the in the North West Province.
