{"id":2110,"date":"2018-11-01T13:31:50","date_gmt":"2018-11-01T13:31:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/roundaboutwatersolutions.org.za\/2018\/11\/01\/playpumps-installed-and-maintained\/"},"modified":"2018-11-01T13:31:50","modified_gmt":"2018-11-01T13:31:50","slug":"playpumps-installed-and-maintained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/index.php\/2018\/11\/01\/playpumps-installed-and-maintained\/","title":{"rendered":"PlayPumps installed and Maintained"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/EC0249-LEHMANS-DRIFT-PS1141-e1541075929597.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1703\" src=\"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/EC0249-LEHMANS-DRIFT-PS1141-300x225-1.jpg\" alt=\"EC0249 - LEHMANS DRIFT PS114\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-id=\"1703\" \/><\/a>In the last three months we have installed two PlayPumps and maintained over 65 existing PlayPumps thanks to the generous support from donors.<\/p>\n<p>At Lehmans Drift Primary School the principal told us that they had been operating for years without piped water and were reliant on rainwater and the kids bringing bottled water from home.\u00a0 Though they had an electrical pump it had been broken for many years and they could not afford to mend it.\u00a0 Also the electricity supply was very unreliable.\u00a0 They felt that a PlayPump would be the answer to their struggles and provide them with much needed water.<\/p>\n<p>The children threw themselves on the PlayPump the moment they were allowed to!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/NW0092-27-e1541076443389.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1704 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/NW0092-27-e1541076417394-300x206-1.jpg\" alt=\"NW0092 (27)\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\" data-id=\"1704\" \/><\/a> Maintenance of the PlayPump was\u00a0 done at Itlotleng Primary School.\u00a0 It has been at the school since 2007 and was still very popular with the children.<\/p>\n<p>The tap was upgraded, new HDPE pipes were laid, the forcehead seal was replaced and the tank cleaned out.<\/p>\n<p>The school, with over 200 pupils has no other source of reliable water and is very dependent on the PlayPump for their water needs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/NW0093-32-e1541077335315.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1707\" src=\"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/NW0093-32-300x225-1.jpg\" alt=\"NW0093 (32)\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-id=\"1707\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In many cases not only do the school children use the water, but the local people also collect water from the PlayPump.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/NW0094-19-e1541078831426.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1709 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/playpumps.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/NW0094-19-300x225-1.jpg\" alt=\"NW0094 (19)\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-id=\"1709\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Maintenance of our PlayPumps is very important.\u00a0 Some of them are 20 years or older, still providing water and very needed by the schools and communities.\u00a0 Please help us continue with this work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the last three months we have installed two PlayPumps and maintained over 65 existing PlayPumps thanks to the generous support from donors.
